The Last Jedi Down Under

Because of this trip, we missed the cast and crew screening of Todd's last project, The Last Jedi. Lucky for us, we got to see the movie before anyone else because of the time difference in Australia.  We went with our two Star Wars fans in Sydney, Hal and Simon. It was a fun way to spend our last day especially because it was over 100 degrees outside. This is our last full day in Sydney.

 Another amazing breakfast.

Yes, there's a Westfield mall in Australia which is just weird. Here we are with Santa in the summer.

Christmas tree at the movie theater.

Post movie snack.

Hal, who is trying to bulk up, ate an entire giant container of yogurt. It was disturbing to us all.

Our last dinner with Mary and Tim. So sad that our time in Australia is done.

Screening Time

Another year, another Star Wars movie complete.  This year, Daddy did a lot of amazing work on Rogue One.  We got to see it a few days early in the Metreon theater in San Francisco with a few hundred of our closest friends.  Dexter isn't quite old enough yet.

 Storm trooper shot is required.

Movietime.

It was great!

Birthday Sleepover and Art

Maya convinced us to let her have her first sleepover party.  One thing we learned...6 nine-year-olds equals very little sleep and lots of screaming.

Mexican food for dinner, then they watched The Force Awakens.

The schedule of events by Maya.

These two aren't sure if they are going to make it.

Yes, it is possible to fit five more girls in Maya's room.

Breakfast after very limited sleep for everyone.

In other news, Dexter drew his own Star Wars themed picture.

The Force Awakens

It was a special night for Maya, Daddy, and Momma.  We got to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens two days before everybody else.

The entire Metreon in San Francisco was closed to public to host crew screenings for the new movie.

No screening is complete without stormtroopers...

 ...and robots.

Daddy got into a little trouble for taking too much popcorn. Congrats to the crew of The Force Awakens for making an amazing film.

Grown ups head out to the 70s themed holiday party for Lucasfilm.

Busy Kids

Maya and Dex doing what kids do best....

Dex sees bubbles at the Discovery Museum

Maya shows off Grammy and Papa as Luke and Leia.

Another Star Wars inspired piece by Maya.

For those of you who may not have seen it immediately, this is Han Solo in carbonite.

Classic Dexter winter apparel: coat, hat, and his ladybug bag, of course.

Maya is also making a fashion statement of some sort.

Playground!

Who's in the box?

Dexter!!

The Art Of Star Wars

Right after watching "The Empire Strikes Back" for the first time, Maya immediately started drawing...

On the left is Darth Vader, in the center is Han Solo in Carbonite, and on the right is a series of Luke with his feet frozen in the ice, igniting his lightsaber and running away.

On the left is the space slug hiding in an asteroid, in the center is Luke standing on one arm with Yoda saying "Yoos the Foors", and at bottom is a Tauntain with his belly sliced open.

At left is Maya's drawing of the poster. She only saw the poster once, for less than a minute, an hour before she started drawing.

Daddy finally gets to watch the original Star Wars films with Maya.  Maya watches the big reveal in Empire Strikes Back...

Chicago: The Adventure Begins

During Todd's vacation from work, we decided to adventure to Chicago to visit Grammy and Papa, Aunt Shelly, Uncle Mike, and their kids, Matthew, Ryan, Andrew, and Nancy. What fun!

Maya loves riding on airplanes and kicking the seat of the passenger in front of her...lovely.

Matthew says hello!
Maya's promptly handed a light saber...there's no getting away from Star Wars in the Vaziri clan.

Ryan, Andrew, and Maya play with a 26-year-old Endor toy...cool.
