Dexter Graduates

Dexter officially finished his full three years at San Anselmo Montessori School.  This year was his kindergarten year and he got to partake in the special kindergarten curriculum with 9 other children every afternoon.  Today marked the moving on ceremony for all the kids, but was extra-special for the 10 kindergarteners.  They each received a certificate and got to carry a lit candle around the room.

What We Are Doing

Montessori Birthday Celebration

With Dexter's little kindergarten group, they do a very special birthday celebration.  Parents bring in a picture from each year of the child's life and then talk about memories from each phase.  The kids like seeing how everyone looked when they were babies.  After showing the pictures and then doing a little ceremony circling the sun 5 times, we all had tea.  A very cute event.

Dexter started his last year at his Montessori school.  He is in their kindergarten program, but because of his birthday being just after the cut-off, he will go to kindergarten again next year.  So, don't be surprised when you see his first day of kindergarten again next year.

Dexter's First Day, Second Year

Dexter is back to his Montessori school for another year...

School Visit

Dexter goes to a wonderful Montessori preschool.  Normally parents aren't really allowed to be in the classroom during the day, but once a year parents can observe.  Mama got to spend an hour in the classroom and watch the kids.  Although these pics don't show it, there are a lot of other kids at his school. Here he is doing a couple of 'works.'

 Dexter's first love at preschool was Alicia.  Sadly, she wanted to spend time with her own adorable 2 year-old.  Here they are on her last day.

First Day Of Preschool

Dexter entered a new phase of life.  He has moved from toddler to preschooler.  We started him at a wonderful little Montessori school.  He was pretty excited until he realized Mom was leaving.  He cried a little, but we were told he calmed down quickly.  They grow up fast!!
