Butterflies

Thanks to Uncle Boyd and family, we got a butterfly growing kit. It was a really fun experiment to see caterpillars (that arrived in the mail) grow in a jar and then turn into chrysalids and then become butterflies. We only kept the butterflies in the little butterfly netted enclosure for a couple of days and then we decided to let them go. Here is Maya saying goodbye to our three pets.

Photographer Maya waits to see the butterflies emerge.

Two of the butterflies enjoying a flower we provided.

Maya examines the butterfly one last time.

Another one sat on her finger for a moment before fluttering away. Thanks for the cool present Boyd, Kim, Connor and Chase!

Young Visit

Lucky for us, the Youngs decided to vacation in Northern California this year. Liz is a dear friend from college days. We had a great time with her, her husband, Jon, and their daughters, Sophie (9 years) and Isabel (7 years). We even had a little reunion with Sarah and Eric (also from college days) and their kids, Leo and Rosie.

Serious dramatics ensued by the life-sized Boba Fett.

More excitement by Darth Vader.

A couple years ago, the grown-ups from the college years were able to meet in San Francisco. On the last night of this visit, we went over to Sarah and Eric's house where kids and adults had a fabulous time. Here are all the kiddies on the couch: Isabel, Rosie, Sophie, Maya, and Leo. Wow!!

Los Angeles: Benny And Family

Todd had to head back to San Francisco for work, but Maya and Momma stayed for a little longer to catch up with Beth, Jenny, their adorable son, Jackson, and their baby that's still on the inside.

On the train at Griffith Park with Jackson and Jenny.

TUNNEL!

The next day we got to hang with Beth.

Maya was nice enough to take a picture of these two pregnant chicks.
