"Hawaii" video

Some of the thrills in motion...

Last Windy Day

The west side of the island was very windy while we were there. This made beach activities tricky. We tried, but eventually gave up and got pool passes at a resort for our last day.

Trying to enjoy the beach. It's working for Dexter.

Blowing sand and sunburns led us to embrace new towel fashions.

Momma takes a beach nap.

It looks pretty out there.

At Hilton Waikailoa.

Taking the tram to another pool.

Our last sunset in Hawaii.

We approve.

Beautiful.

Dramatic evening.

We headed to dinner at the Lava Lava Beach Club for our last supper. It was good.

North

We decided to spend less time in the sun today. We adventured North to the top of the Big Island.

Lunch with a little hula at Bamboo cafe in Kapa'au.

Fun with unpurchased items at the gift shop.

Maya photobombing Dexter with his new friend.

Amazing view. At the end of the road by Polulu Valley.

Checking out the hike down to the beach.

Sunburned humans.

A little down the trail.

We didn't make it all the way down the trail.

But we still had fun.

As close as we got to the beach.

On the way back up.

Dexter on the way out.

Pretty spot.

Sunset back at the house.

Lovely.

We never get tired of this time of day.

The younger two.

The older two.

 Goodbye sun.

Fun In Too Much Sun

We got settled into to our cool little house in Puako, went to the beach, and got sunburned like dumb tourists (we put on sunblock, I promise).

Our house near the end of the street.

View across the street.

Looking for fish.

Very cool lava coastline.

Enjoying the life in the water.

Selfie.

Hapuna Beach which is pretty amazing, but windy.

Serious boogieboarding.

Not realizing what the sun is doing to us right now.

Playing in the sand.

Walking to nearby hotel for sunset hanging.

Fun walk for the newly sunburned.

Pile of white rocks...sure.

Sunset treats.

Not too bad.
It's hard to appreciate how sunburned we are...but sadly, we are very sunburned.

These pictures were taken by a photographer and friend from the kid's school that we happened to run into at the restaurant. Small world.

West Side

Today we bid farewell to our lovely home in Hilo and made our way to the west side of the island. Our destination was a cute little house in Puako.

Very cute to see the kids sharing story time together.

Pho for lunch at this funky place in Waimea.

We had been having issues with our car and in Waimea it decided to stop working. Eventually we got help at the local auto repair place and got the car started. Unfortunately, Todd got to go back to the airport to get a more functional rental car.

Only in Hawaii are there rainbows at the car rental place.

Meanwhile, this was our view for that same sunset near our new Puako house.
