11 Months, Pop and Lulu Say Goodbye

All good things must come to an end. Lulu and Pop said goodbye to Maya on July 7th much to her dismay. Maya truly loves her grandparents. Anytime they walk in the room, she lights up.

"Maya's First Birthday!" video

Here's a quick video of Maya at her birthday celebration. You can tell that she's enjoying all the attention...

Check out our earlier blog post for more pics of the big day.

11 Months, Maya's First Birthday Party

A couple days before Maya's actual birthday, we threw her a little party at our house. Being that one of Maya's very favorite things are balloons, we got plenty of them for the big day. We got lots of sandwiches and Mommy made two kinds of cupcakes. The weather was nice and sunny and many of Maya's favorite people were there. It was a very special day and we're pretty sure Maya really enjoyed it...

"Wow! That's a lot of balloons!"

Yum.

The birthday girl woke up just in time for the big party.

Happy girl.

Meanwhile, outside...

Look, this could possibly be an adult conversation.

11 Months, Chihuly Exhibit

On July 5th, Lulu, Pop, and Coco went with us to the Chihuly blown glass exhibit at the de Young Museum. Maya had already seen this once before on the day she came down with stomach flu and threw up on Mommy in the last room of the exhibit. We're happy to report that Maya thoroughly enjoyed her second visit and kept her lunch in her belly where it belongs.

Here's more info on the artist:

Maya spent her entire time pointing.

Psychedelic!

Baby torture to have some many pretty balls that no one is allowed to touch.

11 Months, Lulu and Pop Visit

On July 4th, Lulu and Pop arrived to visit Maya. I guess you could say that she was pleased...

...and Pop!

11 Months, Maya's World View

These days Maya is becoming more opinionated and better able to communicate with us. She hands us books because she wants us to show them to her and she will point at something that she wants until she gets it. She has a very advanced understanding of the world around her...

"Hey, life is serious business. It's not always about smiles..."

"...but they sure are fun!"

"Great knowledge must be inside these books. Please teach me these things."

"Hmmm...BROWN GOAT...fascinating."

11 Months, Maya Likes to Play

Maya loves to play. Luckily, we live near the Mission Library and the Eureka Valley Recreation Center. Here's some pics of Maya having fun out on the town.

11 Months, Fun Time

Maya and Olen had a great time playing together at Olen's house on June 27th. Fun included reading books, playing with the famous Funtime Tractor, and spilling couscous all over the floor.
