"Giggle Girl" video

Get your daily dose of laughing Maya...

MOMA with Marimar

Over Labor Day weekend, Maya's Aunt, Marimar (Meredith), came to visit all the way from Mexico. She came solo and left Uncle Oscar and Cousin Santi at home. Although we missed seeing them, it was wonderful having all the Higgins sisters together. We had a great time. On Sunday, Marimar came with us to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit. No pictures were allowed inside that exhibition so all the pictures below are from the atrium areas.

Some might find these guys creepy, but Maya enjoys these bizarre Chinese dudes.

Pool Party!

On August 28th, we found ourselves in the middle of another heat wave. When it was too hot to take our midday walk, Maya and I decided the only thing left to do was take a trip to Target and pick up a baby pool. That afternoon we had Laura and Nick and our new friends, Caryn and Reed, over for a pool party!

While Maya was sleeping, Laura and Nick arrived...

...along with Caryn and Reed.

Oh, the anticipation! And then...

...naked babies!

Maya approves.

After swimming, Maya and Nick try to escape.

Nick got out, but Maya returned for a final evening swim...

...with Daddy!

"Skaneateles Lake" video

Here are a few random moments caught on video during our Skaneateles adventure. You get bonus points if you can guess how much Maya loves getting her feet wet, spot the hail, or catch Great Gram's comment about the sanity of the family. Enjoy!

Skaneateles Lake, NY - Goodbyes

On August 11th, we had to head home after four short days. Maya's first trip to the lake won't be her last! We can't wait to go back.

Pop, Dad, and Maya.

Ron, Great Aunt Betsy, Dad, and Maya.

Great Grandpa, Great Gram, and Maya.

3 dads and a little lady.

Four generations of cool chicks.

Yay! Air travel is soooo much fun.

Skaneateles Lake, NY - A Bridge, Some Cows, and Rain

Adventures at the lake come in many varieties. During a walk on a footpath along edge of the lake, Maya got to see a bridge named after Momma. Exciting? Yes, but not nearly as exciting as spotting cows on the way back from a yummy dinner at Doug's Fish Fry. And, we can't forget the quick moving thunderstorm that descended upon the cottage on our last evening.

Yes, this is truly named after the lady standing here. Erected in the year Momma was born, this foot bridge is used by at least 25 people per year. Jealous?

Emergency stop for roadside cows.

Maya likes to "moo" like a cow. She was quite impressed by the real things.

Rain. Thunder. Hail!

Maya watches the storm. Mesmerizing.

Skaneateles Lake, NY - Swimming

We only had one really warm day while were at the lake, so there wasn't much time for swimming. But, we couldn't leave without taking a dip in the crystal clear lake. Unfortunately, Maya wasn't a fan of the 'invigorating' temperature of the lake, nor the giant 3 to 4 inch waves. Eventually, we found a way for her to enjoy a little swim.

Maya seems a bit concerned about the lake...

...okay, maybe more than a bit concerned.

Oh, the horror!

Feet in the water is fun, if it's Daddy's feet.

Maya tries out a slightly smaller, warmer body of water.

Complete with sailboat.

Even more fun with Lizzy.

Momma takes a quick dip.

Best place to swim...ever.

Skaneateles Lake, NY - Boats

No trip to the lake is complete without getting out on the water. Lizzie took her first spin on the "six," the outboard motor boat and expertly rowed in the scull. There were several short sails. Great Gram and Grandpa snuck out on the canoe and Maya drove the big boat. Wow!!

Pop showing Lizzy how to work the six.

Canoeing is great for the young at heart.

Lizzy zips past in the scull.

Maya's first life vest.

Sunset cruise and a search for bagpipers and a wedding.

Checking out a family friend's nuptials from the water.

"This is kind of fun?"

Pop gives Maya the wheel.

"This is really fun!"

Skaneateles Lake, NY - Meeting the Family

The cottage by the lake is the perfect place for family gatherings. Maya had a great time exploring the place and meeting many of her relatives for the first time.

View of the lake from the cottage.

Making breakfast more fun.

Maya meets her Great Aunt Susie, her Great Uncle Scott, and her second cousin Lizzy.
