We Always Have the Fair

Upon our return home, we got the unfortunate news that Daddy would need surgery on his ankle to stabilize the break. The surgery is scheduled for July 6th. In the meantime, we got to enjoy the 4th of July complete with a trip to the fair. Elizabeth came with Mommy and the kids while Daddy stayed home.

Ready for fun.

Swings!

 Carousel!

Hello!

Above it all.

Meanwhile, Todd got a little sun too.

We now need another chair at dinner.

Yikes!

Well, things took a dramatic turn on our last full day in Chicago. We still had fun and tried to ignore the world of hurt that lay ahead.

Todd couldn't walk again in the morning after his fateful jump off a play structure. So we were off to urgent care in the morning.

This expression resulted from the following image.

Yep. Broken tibia right at the ankle joint. For those of you who love anatomy, it's a fracture of the medial malleolus.

Now for a temporary splint and an order to see an orthopedic doc on our return to the Bay Area.

This is how Momma feels about the whole situation.

 Dad's feelings.

No worries! Shelly and the cousins arrived for a fun afternoon.

Dexter reads to his cousin.

Sister and Brother together.

Todd gets driven around in style to dinner.

Todd realizes that driving is not going to be possible for many weeks.

Dinner with the whole gang.

These two!

When you can't move, you sit over here.

Dexter having fun with statues in Lockport.

Cousins.

With Grammy and Papa.

Another shot of this duo.

If you don't laugh, you cry.

Heading back home the next day. Yikes!

Back To Lockport

After our little Chicago adventure, it was time to head back to Grammy and Papa's house.

 Last morning in the clouds.

We had breakfast and the kids hung out with this guy.

Daddy's view of the kids playing after an evening stroll to a neighborhood playground. Unfortunately, Daddy can't really get off the couch...more on that coming soon.

More Chicago Fun

A trip to Chicago is not complete without a visit to Millennium Park and Dylan's Candy Bar.

First we hit the Maggie Daley Playground and then made our way...

...across the bridge over to the...

...giant bean sculpture. Always a favorite.

Crazy!

Weird guy, weird reflections.

These two.

The whole gang.

Then we celebrated the Polish community in Chicago by trying some pierogis.

We then wandered to Eataly to admire the amazing Italian foods.

Maya was very please when we stopped here on the way back home.

So was Dexter.

All there is to do when your in a giant candy store.

Back to the hotel when it was time for...

...the pools!

Happiness.

Tween.

Night from our apartment.

Great view.

On the roof we got to watch this!
