On our next day in Queenstown, we took a morning trip across Lake Wakatipu on a steam ship.
Walking into town from our lodge.
Loading the coal for the TS Earnslaw to voyage across the lake.
In line for refreshments.
In New Zealand they have a tradition of giving kids steamed milk with cocoa powder and a little treat when their parents get drinks at the cafe. They are known as fluffies.
Maya down in the working engine room.
It's pretty cool to see all the inner workings of the ship.
We arrived at a beautiful farm and lodge on the other side. Of course, we had to see a sheep shearing.
There is a sheep in there.
Wool!
After a wonderful lunch, we luxuriated on the shore.
Skipping rocks.
See the boat coming back for us in the distance?
Here she is.
The voyage back was much warmer.
The bow.
After the boat trip we went to the Kiwi Birdlife park were we saw many amazing birds. Most notably, we saw the Kiwi (couldn't take photos). We finished the day with this beautiful sunset.
