Mallorca Was Nice, But So Is Nice

Well, our time in Mallorca had come to an end. We are excited to see the kids and spend on last night with Coco, Nate and fam before heading off to Nice, France.

Did you notice this view from of beautiful Mallorca?

Hugs goodbye after a wonderful time in Barcelona.

To the Barcelona airport for a quick flight to Nice.

Airport tram in Nice.

Our new address in Nice.

The elevator up to our 4th fl apartment is a little tight.

Our first walk on the promenade.

Trains and colors of Nice.

Here we are.

Gelato in the shape of a rose.

Not too shabby.

Last Full Day

Vacation on your vacation is fun. The last full day of our Mallorca getaway was spent enjoying the nearby town and relaxing. Life is good.

The usual breakfast view.

Still beautiful.

Walking around Valledemossa, an inland town where Chopin once hung out. Not sure what the expressions mean.

A beautiful little town.

Streets with potted plants everywhere.

Back to our hotel where we lounged on our private porch.

Meanwhile, Coco treated the kids to another day at the beach!

Surprise Hike

When children aren't around, there is a certain amount of freedom. Today we decided to take a short hike down to the beach below Deia and then we ended up walking and walking and walking.

The beautiful terraces as we walk down to the beach from the hotel.

Todd.

The beach was apparently recently on a show which meant that it is now very busy.

The beach was not something we wanted to experience for too long.

Kearsley started walking along the shore on a nice trail.

We followed it some more.

And some more.

And continued.

It got a bit more rocky and there was some scrambling. Did I mention we were just wearing tevas and only had a little water.

Found more of a trail again.

Then we went up a road over a big hill and through a bunch of olive groves toward Port de Soller in the distance here.

We decided this was our destination.

We made it!

12km later and a bit tired. We found a cafe.

Delicious treats and then a cab ride back to the hotel. Perfect.

Meanwhile, Maya ate salmon

...and squid.

And went to the movies!

Turning 50, Go To Mallorca

For Todd's 50th coming up later in the month, Kearsley organized a little getaway for the two of them to go to Mallorca and stay at one of those places that looks over a cliff at the ocean. Coco generously offered to take the kids for 3 nights while we went on our little adventure.

To say we are excited is an understatement.

A short flight later we arrived at our beautiful boutique hotel with a lovely upgraded room -- which had accidentally been upgraded -- which we had to leave after seeing what could have been. Expressions reflect the glory that we taken away.

However, seeing that our original room was also lovely and receiving complimentary champagne, a free dinner and the views quickly made up for it.

Seriously awesome.

We took a quick walk over to the nearby Deia for a quick afternoon drink.

More views from hotel.

Seriously, this is our view.

This pool for the 20 guests.

Dinner the first night. Yum.

Meanwhile, back in Barcelona there was fun with cousins and boba

Sitges

We decided to trek to one of Barcelona's nearby beach towns, Sitges, with Coco and fam and Billy and fam. We happened to arrive on Corpus Christi Sunday which is when they have a big flower festival.

Designs made from flower petals in the streets. So pretty.

Dexter showing off his classic happy face.

Mireia trying on some sunglasses.

The beach!!

After some fun in the sun, lunch!

Kid table.

Adult table.

Life is pretty good.

Pondering the sea.

Cousins on the train ride back.

Coco and fam checked out our apartment and enjoyed the five floors of stairs.

The gang.
