Hawaii: Beaches and Boats

We braved our first beach adventure on the East side of the island at Lanikai Beach. The next morning we went on a half day sailing/snorkeling adventure.

Nate, Coco, and Maya enjoying the beach.

Ready for swimming.

Maya went from petrified to laughter several times while playing in the small waves at the beach. Here's petrified.

Then laughter.

Did you know that it can actually be relaxing at the beach with a 3 year-old?

Especially when she is rendered immobile.

Nothing is better after a day at the beach than...shave ice!! Our friend, Megan, who grew up in Honolulu, recommended Waiola's Shave Ice which is delicious and a couple of minutes from the house.

The next morning we headed out to sea on a sailboat on a three-hour tour.

Luckily, our fate did not match the cast of Gilligan's Island, even after we let Maya steer the boat.

Maya with her favorite people.

We sailed for a little while and anchored near a beach. We went snorkeling with some beautiful fish and several sea turtles.

Maya went in the water too. Very fun.
