"Check it out. I'm standing!"

Ready for a summer day in San Francisco.

At the park.

Walking...kind of.

"Nice plant." Yes, it is a nice plant.

The Reviews for "Wall-E"

Hi, Todd here. I just wanted to say a few words about Kearsley's final (for now) project at Pixar. The reviews for "Wall-E", which opened in theaters on June 27th, have been extraordinary. Here are just a few snippets from film critics:

I must drop my inhibitions about dropping the M word -- especially since I've already used magnificent -- and call WALL-E the masterpiece that it is. - Wall Street Journal

Here I am, surprised and delighted all over again at just how well these people can tell a story. - Film.com

The best American film of the year to date. - Boston Globe

It's remarkable to see any film, in any genre, blend honest sentiment with genuine wit and a visual landscape unlike any other. - Chicago Tribune

Some day, there will be college courses devoted to this movie. - New York Post

A film that’s both breathtakingly majestic and heartbreakingly intimate. - Village Voice

The best film of the year so far. - CNN

I can't wait to see it! - Maya, age 6 months

Way to go, Kearsley and the talented people at Pixar for creating another great film. After "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles," "Cars," and now "Wall-E," I am so proud of all that Kearsley has accomplished and her presence at Pixar will be sorely missed.

11 Months, Fun Time

Maya and Olen had a great time playing together at Olen's house on June 27th. Fun included reading books, playing with the famous Funtime Tractor, and spilling couscous all over the floor.

Fun with the Funtime tractor.

Reading Dr. Seuss.

Sarah reads another fabulous tale.

Fascinating.

11 Months, Backpack Baby

Maya's getting bigger and the Baby Bjorn wasn't very comfortable anymore so we decided to try out the Ergo carrier. Maya can ride in the front or the back on this carrier, so we tried the backpack version on June 22nd.

Hiking up Kite Hill near our house.

Looks like she likes it!

11 Months, Another Heatwave

On June 19th and 20th, we were in the midst of another SF heatwave. Maya worked hard to find ways to beat the the heat in our non-air conditioned house.

Maya (with her friend and babysitter, Terie) is keeping cool in her onesie.

Nothing like a little H2O.

"The Path To Crawling" video

It has been a long journey in the development of Maya's crawling skills. We are happy to say that Maya is now a very elegant crawler and able to get into trouble in a whole new variety of ways. Please enjoy the various phases of Maya's crawling legacy:

11 Months, Cute Hat 3 - The Next Generation

On June 13th, Maya received another cute hat. This hat was made by her Grammy in France and has been officially deemed "cute." It's hard to believe, but Grammy just took up knitting and this is her first attempt at a hat (other than the free form cute hat she made for Maya in Chicago). Maya loved the new hat along with a fancy French spoon and a nice letter from her grandparents.

"Seeee!"

"I love Grammy and Papa!"

11 Months, Sicko

On June 11th, Mom and Dad both came down with a bad case of food poisoning...probably from some takeout Mediteranean food. Dad stayed home from work for a couple of days due to the vomitarama. Maya was a good sport with her very boring and slow moving parents.

Unfortunately, Maya came down with a lesser version of the sickness a couple days later while we were at the museum. While she was enjoying some amazing blown glass sculptures, she turned to Mom and proceeded to throw up all over her. Thankfully, she seemed a lot less affected than us. Todd's pediatrician sister, Shelly, explained that Maya got an immune boost thanks to drinking breastmilk which carried the antibodies that Mom had already produced in response to the nasty bug. All in all, it took a full week for all of us to completely recover. Yuck!

Todd documents the sad day.

Maya is very concerned.

11 Months, Olen's Birthday

On June 8th, Maya went to her friend Olen's 1st birthday. He's one of the first babies in our mother's group to hit this big milestone. It was a fun party. It's hard to believe that they are all getting so big!

All dressed up for the party.

Out for lunch before the party.

Olen looks at his cool monkey cake with his Mom and Dad (Sarah and Chris).

10 Months, The Colemans Visit

On June 5th, we got some exciting visitors. Our good friends, Dani and Dave Coleman (Mom knows Dani from Evergreen High School days), were visiting for a wedding and came over with their adorable twins, Adi and Mae. Adi and Mae are about 12 weeks younger than Maya, but you would never guess that based on their size. Maya is outweighed by each of them. But, Maya's wisdom about eating, hand gestures, and movement kept the two of them fascinated. Maya loved meeting her Colorado friends.

Maya gave her new friends bouncy balls before they left.

10 Months, Welcome!

On June 4th, Maya decided to step up the hospitality at the Higgins/Vaziri household...

"Welcome..."

"Please, come inside"

"You have to go? Too bad. I'll see you later!"

10 Months, Brighton's Birthday

On June 1st, we went to Brighton's 2nd birthday party. Brighton is an adorable little guy who has an odd infatuation with "baby Maya." He loved spending time with his younger girlfriend.

Maya finds a balloon.

Yay, presents!

Jason (Brighton's dad) helps him open a present.

Maya likes riding on Dad's shoulders and she likes gnawing on her upper gum.

Brighton's party was fun!
