We've been pretty excited about Barack Obama in our household. We voted early in the morning and eagerly awaited the results all day. When the news came at 8pm that Barack Obama had won, a party broke out in the streets of our neighborhood, the Castro. What a wonderful moment!

Yeah, we broke down and bought Maya an Obama shirt...hopefully, she will thank us later.
We had a fun time in the afternoon playing at Maya's new friend, Sebastian's house.

This is from the article, The Next President of the United States.Unfortunately, there was a dark cloud over the excitement about Obama as we started to see that Proposition 8, eliminating gay marriage and writing discrimination into the California constitution, would probably pass. We are sad that there has been this setback for equality and civil rights in California, but we are sure that this fight is not over yet.
