Skaneateles Lake: Family Dinner

On our last evening in New York, we had a nice dinner and Gram and Grandpa's house. We were so sad to say goodbye.

Skaneateles Lake: Sailing

Gram and Grandpa came down to the lake to take Pop up on his offer to take them sailing. Grandpa is a great sailor, but these days he requires the help of a good crew. It was a sunny day with a light breeze. A great day for a sail.

After the sailing, Maya enjoys a solo lunch in the cottage. This picture really illustrates the feel of the little cottage which happily never changes. Maya is facing the kitchen on the stool.

Later, we drove up to Skaneateles Village for dinner and...

Skaneateles Lake: Perfect Lake Day

Skaneateles Lake is always fun to visit, but it is the best when it is sunny and warm. We were fortunate enough to have some great lake weather while we were there. Here is how we spent one sunny day:

The speed boat ready for action.

We decided to go on an exciting adventure to Carpenter Falls. We took the speed boat to the mouth of a creek and then walked for a mile or so to the falls.

There is no real path, so Maya got to ride in the carrier as we waded through the stream and climbed along the banks. Maya and Daddy relax after the big adventure.

After that, Maya adventured with Pop over to Pink Rock.

The tube was Maya's favorite form of water transit.

Then there was a lot of swimming. Maya jumps in the water...with help.

Skaneateles Lake: To Grandmother's House We Go

When Grandpa came home from the hospital, it was fun to meet him there. While we were waiting we spent some time outside their home. Pop spent the majority of his childhood in this nineteenth century farm house. The property has been lovingly tended to by Gram and looks great!

Skaneateles Lake: Gram and Grandpa!

After our time in North Carolina, we were off to Skaneateles Lake, New York, to visit Gram and Grandpa, Maya's great-grandparents, and met up with Lulu and Pop. Grandpa was having some lung issues when we arrived, so we met up with him in the hospital, but he quickly recovered and was able to go home.

Next time you break your finger think of a Higgins. Pop's side of the family has a small factory in Cortland, NY that makes a variety of products including various orthopedic braces and a variety of other thingies that you put in stuff.

Pop took us over to the factory where Vice President, Terri, took us on a tour on a non-production day.
