Dexter at 2 Months

Little Dexter just had his 2 month doctor visit so it seems like a good time for the latest stats:

Weight: 12lbs 13oz (around 75th percentile)
Height: 24.5 inches (around 75th percentile)
Head: Big...above 95th percentile

He's a healthy little guy. He still has some baby acne and cradle cap. He's nursing well and is beginning to have longer stretches of sleep at night. He's now sleeping in a little moses basket in our room (instead of in the bed with us).

He loves looking at people's faces. That is the only thing that elicits his very cute smiles. He's definitely enjoying being awake more. He still craves constant motion whether walking, bouncing, driving in the car, or strolling.

Daddy just went back to work this week. We feel very lucky that he got to spend these early weeks with us. Now Mommy and Maya are now figuring out the weekday routine with Dexter. It's a bit crazy, but so far so good.

Busy Girl

Maya is finding some fun (and dare we say - helpful) ways to occupy herself at home.

Improvised princess outfit.

Very beautiful.

Endless falling leaves means lots of raking.

Compost time.

I hope she will be this enthusiastic about raking in the future.

Mommy and Dexter

Here are a few shots of Momma with her pal, Dexter.

Here is Momma with Dexter in a new blanket that was knit for us from the lovely Julie.

More smiles.

Momma reciprocates.

Mom's POV.

Taking a walk with Dexter's legs.

Okay...this isn't Dexter. As Maya would say, this is baby Dexter girl, Dexter's twin. She is very good at hitting the duck. Regression anyone?

Ann Visits

We were so happy to have a visit from our wonderful doula, Ann. She was our doula for Maya's birth and was with us again for the birth of Dexter. She has a warm, strong, and calming spirit and was a great support and guide for both deliveries. Needless to say, we were far more relaxed today than we were last time we saw her.

This time with a grateful momma.

Meanwhile, Maya shares her latest art piece...

Mother's Group: The Sequel

Momma joined a new mother's group to meet some new ladies with Dexter style kiddies. She went to the first gathering when Dexter was only 3 weeks old. Now with Dexter at almost 8 weeks, we had our 4th gathering at our place. Lots of lovely babies and their mommas from the San Rafael area.

The Kids

Say hello to our three children. One of them may not get quite the level of attention of the other two. I guess we are guilty of a bit of favoritism.

Here is Maya, you may recognize her from a few other posts.

This is our new arrival, Dexter, who is sporting an adorable outfit from the Kender Page.

He is very happy about it as you can see.

This is Lily. She is our cat. We love her in a get-out-my-face-and-stop-meowing-while-we-are-sleeping kind of way.

Smiles

Officially, we declared that Dexter smiled while awake and looking at us on October 19th. However, it took us a while to obtain photographic evidence. Hooray for some positive and very cute feedback.

Here it comes...

Happy boy.

As close as we get to a laugh.

Smiles are contagious.

This baby thing might be a good idea after all.

After all that smiling, Dexter gets serious in the mirror with Daddy.

The Kender Page Meet The Dexter

Happily for us, the Kender Page family made a trip up to the Bay Area and we got to spend a few glorious days with them. Dexter is currently going through puberty on his way from newborn to baby which includes acne and hair loss. Lucky guy. We still think he's cute and he loved meeting is cool friends from LA. We got a few photos...but their blog has more great pics and pics and pics and pics.

Sam and Jess say hello to Dex.

Hello.

The three Ms - Maddie, Max, and Maya had a great time playing together. Pulling out the trundle and jumping proved to be a big hit.

Ready??

Jump!

Jump!

Max wants to play with puzzles.

Maya and Maddie manage to both sit on the Svan for a snack.

Later the grown ups got so Chicken Pho to eat. Momma uses the rag on babies head technique to shield him from any drops of soup.

This is about how we feel most days.

Momma and Maya say a big thanks for visiting us!!

More Fun At Home

Here's a few more shots of the day to day thrills at home...

Our first attempt of giving Dexter a bottle went well.

Delicious.

This masterpiece was a cooperative effort from Nick and Maya when he and his momma came to visit.
