Dexter at 2 Years

Dexter is 2 years old...

Here are some approximate stats:
Weight: 34.75lbs (around 97th percentile)
Height: 35 inches (around 63rd percentile)
Teeth: 16 (8 upper, 8 lower)

Dexter is quite the explorer.  He loves investigating new locations and trying to climb on everything.  He is particularly attracted to ramps or any other surface that isn't flat. He is very curious about other people and finding it easier to relax around other humans.  He loves to identify objects, people, and animals.  He carries around books like precious treasures and is always happy if someone will read him one. He loves playing outside or listening to music.  He has now mastered how to advance songs in iTunes and is constantly trying to be DJ.

Dex has certainly mastered sleeping and eating.  He takes one long nap each day and sleeps solidly through the night.  He enjoys a large variety of foods and we're grateful that there don't appear to be any allergies.  He likes using silverware and seems slightly civilized

Communication has made some good strides.  He is now comfortably using at least 50 words including "Thank you," "Please," "Yucky," "Yum," "Shoes," "That," "Help," etc.  He calls us all by name "Ye-Ye"(Lily), "Dada," "Momma," "Ma-ne" (Maya).  In recent weeks he's been trying new words each day.  It's nice that he can communicate more effectively which has reduced his tantrums.  There are still many times we Dexter sticks with crying, pointing, and banging his head against the ground to make his point, but the words are certainly helping.

He understands and follows directions.  He enjoys helping with any process like making coffee or waffles, sorting laundry, or putting things away.  He also loves destroying, making messes, and not following directions.  In other words, he's two.

Thank goodness for his contagious smile.  We love you, Dex!

Look Who is Two!

Dexter had his birthday today.  The day included the Discovery Museum, cake, and trucks.  What more could a little guy want?

At the Discovery Museum.

Cupcake time!

"Maya Rides a Bike" video

Maya's been getting more comfortable without training wheels on her bike this summer.  There have been a few moments where she's done a couple peddles or a moment of gliding with no help.  Today, she suddenly figured it out.  This is her first time really riding...
