Stuff Kids Do

Here are a few activities that are popular in our house...

On her own, Maya decided to make secret notes that she would just put in people's bags at school.

More notes.

Nice spider.

Nice muscles.

The whole collection.

 Playing hairdresser.

Not sure what Maya's saying here.

Mission accomplished.

Sometimes bedtime is just tragic.

Good times.

Still not happy.

Mornings With Maya

Maya has taken up the new habit of getting up before everyone else surprising us by being ready for school when we come downstairs.

On a side note, please admire the little tomb for the latest tooth she has lost.  A worry doll is holding the tooth inside the little plastic dome.

When we walked into Maya's room to wake her up for school.

Our big girl.

Camping Portraits

Vince, one of the fabulous campers with us over the weekend, is a photographer.  He took some sweet poloroids (using ancient polaroid film, hence the ol' tymey look) and he also shot with an amazing large format camera.  Our trip just got more dramatic...
Our hosts, Dan and Kim with their adorable 4 month-old, Virgil. (Polaroid)

 Again, large format.

Dan and Maya, there's a story there.

Anita...Vince's special lady.

Anna...she's only mostly crazy.

Ben...if overalls could talk.

 Dexter the Kid.

 Cowgirl.

 Trouble.

How does this happen?

 Disturbing...probably.

 Melodie, camp cutie.

Family Portrait.

In large format.  Thank you, Vince!

Camping Trip

We had so much fun last year when we spent Memorial Day weekend with friends camping, we were so excited when they invited us again.  Our friends Dan and Kim own some beautiful ranch property in Lake County and we met up with them and other friends for the weekend.

 Light packing for the trip.

Some menacing clouds as we arrived that quietly disappeared.

 Beautiful spot.

Setting up the area near the camfire.

The camping area.  We were set up in the camp behind the tree.

 Evening coming.

 Sunset.

Rina and Arrel survey the territory.

 They approve.

 Hanging by the campfire.

Maya ended up being the oldest kid.  Apparently, there is always time for jokes when camping.

Sophie and Melodie outside their tent.

Heading out for a little walk.

Looking down the road both ways.

 Daddy and Maya.

Dexter running!

 Dexter dragging.

 Makeshift wading pool.

 Cool off those feet.

On the second night there was a bit of a pageant and a story about a unicorn created by Anna, Jake, and Maya.

On the way home, we decided it might be necessary to stop for some wine tasting.  Definitely a good decision.  Thanks to Dan and Kim for hosting such a fun trip.
