She's Walking!

Today, we declared that Maya is walking! We sat on the floor and she walked several steps to go from Dad to Mom. We'll have some pics and videos of the exciting feat sometime soon!

Cute Hat 4 - Autumn Fury

Maya got another package in the mail with Grammy's great handy work. Like Grammy's previous creation, this hat proved to be a wonderfully cute hat for Autumn. Grammy let Maya know that she would be her 'little pumpkin' and therefore deserved a special pumpkin hat. Very cute indeed!

Maya looks at the nice note and the pretty pictures from Grammy and Papa.

"Yeah, there's a pumpkin on my hat...jealous?"

More Rock and Roll

More fun at Push, Pull, Rock and Roll. You can see that Maya is getting more confident on her feet. She took her first step a couple of days ago (September 27). Todd and I sit on the floor and try to coax her to walk between us, but so far she's just able to take a step before she plops on the floor. Maya is getting very close to walking...any day now...

"Fishies" video

More fishy fun...

Academy of Sciences

The new Academy of Sciences just opened in San Francisco and Maya couldn't wait to go and check out the big aquarium, the rain forest in a big glass ball, and the cool penguins. It is a truly amazing museum, but unsurprisingly, Maya's very favorite area contained fishies.

Something is stuck to Mommy's leg.

Maya enjoys the living roof of the museum.

"Wow!"

Maya stands in front of the aquarium attempting to pet the fish that swim by.

Yay for fish!

Chillin' at the Ferry Building

Here we are having some fun at the Ferry Building...

Maya discovers a chair that's just her size.

Mother's Group Get Together

We got together with some of the members of our Mother's group and it's amazing how much everyone has grown. We had a great time at the Noe Valley playground and rec center catching up. Chasing little toddler's around the playground is quite different from our meetings a year ago.

"Back to the Beach" video

Maya's new love...the beach...

Back to the Beach

Our last trip to the beach was not very successful and we thought that poor Maya could have inherited a genetic predisposition to sand hating. Luckily, 5 months later, it seems that Miss Maya has changed her tune. On this beautiful fall day, Laura and Nick invited us out to the beach at Crissy Field. Todd works right near the beach and dropped by to check out all the fun too.

Our San Francisco baby.

SAND!

Beaches receive Maya's seal of approval...finally.

Shoes!

Maya loves shoes. She insists on wearing hers all the time and points them out whenever she sees them. Imagine her excitement when she discovered Mom and Dad's closet full of gigantic shoes just begging for her special treatment.

Maya's 'organizes' the shoes that were once on shelves.

"These shoes must belong to some woman with freakishly large feet."

"All done...Now let's organize the bookshelves."

"Spoonfuls" video

Maya's great at using utensils to scoop up a lot of nothing and occasionally food...

"Push, Pull, Rock and Roll" video

Here's a little video of the so-called push, pull, rock and rolling...

Push, Pull, Rock and Roll

Maya attends a few 'classes' these days. This one, Push, Pull, Rock and Roll, involves a gym full of push toys and some music. Nick and his mom, Laura, also attend this class. On this particular day, our babysitter, Terie (who nannies for two other babies during the day), came along. Here are a few glimpses of the fun...

Nick takes Maya for a spin.

"Who's over there?"

It's Terie with Miel and Eddie.

Miss Maya relaxes while Nick pushes her around the gym.

Another tough day for Maya.

"Early Walking" video

Maya continues to get closer to walking. Here's a video from September 13th of Maya walking with just one-handed support and practicing standing on her own.

ZOOOOOOO

Sometimes we think that Maya's career path may be something like Jane Goodall's. She loves animals and she loves sitting in little perches. Below are some examples of Maya's inevitable future living with the animals as we venture the San Francisco Zoo.

Maya perches in the book shelf and observes Mom and Dad and two crazy cats.

At the zoo, Maya is very excited about the sheep in the petting area.

Oooh...horses...

Looking at the ducks.

"I love ANIMALS!"

Looking at tigers.

Tiger and her cubs.

Maya and Dad like lions...

"...ROARRRR"

Maya's favorite, the giraffe.

At The Park With Coco

On Tuesdays, Mama, Coco, and Maya have a standing date. On this Tuesday, we went to the cool playground in Golden Gate park. Fun!

Very dramatic.

Swinging is even more fun when holding a giant fork.
