Meteor Crater

On our drive back home after fun in Sedona, we kept seeing signs for Meteor Crater on the highway. We decided to take a chance took a short excursion to check it out.

Admission was a bit steep, but the crater was pretty amazing.

This crater, on private land, has been instrumental in the modern scientific understanding of meteor impacts.

Deeper in the crater.

Crater family photo.

Also, on this trip we discovered Popeyes. One family member was a super fan.

More Desert Fun

It's another great day in Sedona.

Good morning Gigi!

A hike up Sugarloaf Mountain (mountain is a bit of an overstatement -- more of a hill).

Up we go.

Dexter is the Gigi whisperer.

At the top.

Ah, the views!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Chillin before heading back down.

The crew again.

Back in Sedona there was some Boba and other treats.

That afternoon, Coco and Kiki decided to see where the trail near the rental went. We found ourselves hiking all the way up to a little rock outcropping called Summit Trail. It was a fun little adventure.

For our last evening, we once again had fun playing Telestrations.

Sedona Getaway

For President's Day weekend, we drove to Sedona to meet Coco and family who drove from San Diego.

Meet Gigi! Coco's new baby.

Our first evening in the house.

Todd chillin' with Char, Vivi,  and Dex.

Hiking over to Cathedral Rock via Baldwin trailhead.

Nate and Todd.

These two are in the same grade!

The hike continues.

Lovely views.

All the cousins at the base of Cathedral Rock.

One more.

Don't forget Gigi.

There was various levels of interest in getting to the top of Cathedral Rock. It was quite a difficult climb straight up in parts with limited footholds and a lot of people. Dexter, Vivi, and Davey decided to skip it. Maya, Nate, and Coco (holding Gigi) made it up part of the way and then decided to head back down because of issues of shoes and the dog.  However, Char, Kiki, and Todd pressed on to see what was at the top. Here is our brave explorer after we got past the hardest part.

Climbing up the last section...much easier than what we just did.

At the top!

What a view!

We made it!

Back home it was time for Telestrations!
