Coco and Nate Meet Dex

Coco and Nate came back to the Bay Area for a wedding and got to spend a couple days with us. Hooray!

Coco holds Dexter for the first time and provokes a rare Dexter smile.

After dinner, Maya shows off her Halloween costume to a terrified Nate.

Scary!

Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures

We've all gone a little crazy to keep ourselves sane...

Dexter learns about dental hygiene with Momma.

Daddy spins around with Maya while taking random shots with the cell phone. It's something to do.

Proud Big Sister

Maya is very excited about her little brother. She is constantly telling everyone, including strangers about Dexter. She thinks he is pretty cool.

Maya loving Dexter.

Dexter wearing the Maya's Transformers onesie. Despite our less enthusiastic feelings about director Michael Bay, Dexter sure looks cute.

Family Resemblance?

We don't want to get into a habit of comparing the siblings, but are some pics of brother and sis as newborns. Right now, it seems like Dexter has a longer face, less chubby cheeks, and lighter hair and skin than his sister did at this age. However, they definitely have a similar look.

Couch Potato

Spending time sitting on the couch is a requirement these days.

Dexter (in one of Maya's old outfits) snuggles with his Momma.

Enjoying a bit of calm awake time.

Maya wants to hold him.

Dexter looking a bit anxious about this.

Maya, on the other hand, is quite content.

Dexter's Second Bath

Here are a some shots of Dexter's second bath. The first was not the most endearing of moments. Dexter did not agree with the idea. Maya was yelling about wanting to help. We were trying not to seriously injure anyone in the bathroom. The second bath was much more photo-friendly...

Relaxing in the tub.

An expression approaching a smile.

Post bath mellowness.

What Day Is It?

Time seems to float by in a strange way while Daddy is off work and we are getting far too little sleep.

Ready for school!

Newborn life is not complete without a bit of geek humor on a onesie.

Pig costume made at school.

Mommy brushes up on her ability to do many things while holding or nursing a newborn. Eating lunch at a restaurant? No problem.

Maya decides to get in touch with her inner New Yorker and orders a bagel and lox.

Pumpkins Baby!

The whole family decided to brave the Nicassio Farms Pumpkin Patch. It was one of our first outings as a group of four and went surprisingly well.

Good morning.

Pre-pumpkin patch tummy action...

...and hand eating.

Looking for pumpkins at a local pumpkin patch. Dex is in the sling.

Maya selects pumpkins.

And more pumpkins.

And this pumpkin.

A Day in the Life

We're still getting our heads around becoming a family of four. Here's a few shots of our weird newborn-enhanced world.

Dexter wears his Chicago Bears gear as required by his Grammy and Papa. Maya holds her very happy brother.

During a little rain shower, Maya brings out the rain gear...

...while Dexter hangs out inside.

A common sight of Momma and Dex in the morning (complete with dirty diapers and coffee).

Sleeping Like a Baby

I suppose that when they made up the saying: "Sleeping like a baby," this is what they meant.

The tough life of a newborn.
