Lake Tahoe: First Impressions

Maya's dad just finished working on a project that stole his Saturdays away for several months. Luckily, he took 2 weeks off and on October 20th we all headed for a 5 day trip to Lake Tahoe.

For those of you unfamiliar, Lake Tahoe is a beautiful mountain lake in the Sierras between Sacramento and Reno. It's home to many ski areas and mountain resorts. In our 7 years in San Francisco, we've never been there even though its a relatively short 3 hour drive. We ended up staying in a resort at Squaw Valley (one of the ski resorts) which is a few minutes from the lake shore and nestled in a beautiful valley. This time of year it's not crowded at all. The summer activities have ended and winter activities haven't yet started, so there's not many people around. But, there are restaurants, shops, and a spa (yay!) that are all open. It's a good speed for Ma, Pa, and 15 month old.

We couldn't wait to see how Maya would react to the place.

Picking up supplies...No, this is not a cheese commercial.

Feeding trout right where the Truckee river meets Lake Tahoe.

"Birdy?"

"See?"

Do you see the birdy?

Maya first impression seems to be positive.
